Gregory Brown

Gregory L. Brown was educated in the Birmingham School System and attended Lawson State Community College majoring in Computer Science. Though not his educational major, His love of the Lord inspired his musical talents during his teen years when he became a member of The University of Alabama in Birmingham Gospel Choir, The Echoes of Faith. Founder Elder Dewayne Alejandro Davis later served as musician and director for this the University’s first gospel choir.

As his musical talents flourished, he began to write words and music under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and God’s Word. He has been afforded the opportunities to instruct and present in various workshops and seminars throughout the United States. The workshops & seminars include The Late Rev. Dr. John David Brown's Church Music Workshop and the Late Rev. James Cleveland's Gospel Music Workshop of America, while a member of the Birmingham Chapter of GMWA under Chapter Representative Mrs. Mary K. Elsaw. Several of his works were recorded by Gospel Music Workshop America of America Women of Worship. Most noted is “When I Call Your Name” From the Award-Winning album “Jesus Is The Name” and GMWA's “The Best of The Women of Worship”.

He went on to become musician and Minister of Music for various churches in Birmingham and surrounding areas and later served as Musical Director for The New Hope Baptist Church where Dr. Gregory L. Clarke is Pastor and Director of the 250 voice Herman Stone Mass Choir under the auspices of his Mentor and Uncle, The Rev. Dr. John D. Brown. Greg was honored to travel the United States and the World with Rev. Dr. Brown and The New Hope Mass choir as ambassadors of the Birmingham Convention and Visitors Bureau. He Has been blessed to serve as Minister of Music as far away as Washington State. In September 2013, He assisted with the organization of the "Back to the Dream" choir in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of the Civil Rights Movement in Birmingham, Alabama.

He has been blessed to share the gospel stage with many of the music industry’s top artists such as, The Clark Sisters, Kirk Franklin, Smokie Norful, Jonathan Butler, John P. Kee, Ricky Dillard & New Generation Chorale, O'Landa Draper, Douglas Miller, The Late Rev. Milton Brunson and The Thompson Community Singers , Frank Williams, James Moore, The Mississippi Mass Choir , The Alabama Symphony Orchestra, The National Baptist Convention, Mercedes Ellington, Tyler Perry, Darrius Brooks and Tyrone Block just to name a few.

Gregory is a member of The Grammy, Dove and Stellar Award-winning Rev. Milton Brunson's Thompson Community Singers of Chicago, affectionately known as "The Tommies" and dubbed in the music industry as America's Number One Choir. He serves as Musical Director / Minister of Music for The Abundant Life Music Ministry.

 

While working quietly in television and commercial advertising, Gregory’s most recent recording project entitled "29:11" released in The United States and the United Kingdom allowing listeners to experience the gifts bestowed on this talented musician and writer. “29:11” is now available on iTunes, Amazon.com, and CDBaby. Producing, writing and developing others are just a few facets of Gregory L. Brown. His desire is to foster a relationship between God and man whereby all may become aware that the Music Ministry is a pertinent part of the worship experience. He believes Music Ministry is not a main attraction, but a place of preparation to take worshippers to a higher level of praise, inviting in the Holy Spirit to take control and create life-changing experiences through the Word of God.
